March Madness was just that, madness. Florida Gulf Coast University had their one shinning moment. The one seeds were shaky and it showed in the tournament and stars like Michigan’s Trey Burke delivered. Our State-Lines bracket parallels all the normal tournament fun. “The Best Characters of Golden Age” T.V. are slugging it out. The Sweet 16 is packed with David and Goliaths.

Winner of M.A.S.H. Region vs Winner of Law & Order Region

Winner of Twin Peaks Region vs Winner of Seinfeld Region

Round of 32

M.A.S.H Region

1. Tony Soprano (The Sopranos) over 8. Vic Mackey (Shield)

5. Rachel Green (Friends) over 4. Carrie Bradshaw (Sex and the City)

  • This was close and contested. Two of the defining girls of this past decade of t.v. squared off with Friends Rachel Green sneeking by Sex and the City‘s leading lady.

2. Dr. House (House) over 7. Tommy Gavin (Rescue Me)

3. John Locke (Lost) over 6. Roger Sterling (Mad Men)

Law & Order Region

1. Jack Bauer (24) over 8. Leslie Knope (Parks and Recreation)

13. Gus Fringe (Breaking Bad) over 12. Will McAvoy (The Newsroom)

  • Gus Fringe roles on, leaving Aaron Sorkin without a character in the tournament. I guess Walter White maybe the only think who can stop the kingpin.

2. Michael Scott (The Office) over 10. Charlie Harper (Two & A Half Men)

3. Omar Little (The Wire) over 6. Nick Brody (Homeland)

  • Omar Little is carrying the banner for the most unappreciated T.V. drama of all time, The Wire. Little topped Nick Brody, the conflicted former Marine on Showtime’s hit show Homeland.

Twin Peaks Region

1. Walter White (Breaking Bad) over 9. Jack Donaghy (30 Rock)

5. Coach Eric Taylor (Friday Night Lights) over 13. Abed Nadir (Community)

  • Community’s lovable goofball dealing with Asperger’s Syndrome fell by one vote to the ‘ole ball coach. Eric Taylor was almost pushed out of the tournament but survives and advances like his Dillion Panthers.

2. Dexter Morgan (Dexter) over  7. Jack Shepard (Lost)

14. Rick Grimes (The Walking Dead) over 6. Carrie Matheson (Homeland)

  • The State-Lines crew heavily favors The Walking Dead, which is why leading man Rick Grimes knocked off the more critically acclaimed and award-winning leading woman of Homeland.

Seinfeld Region

1. Don Draper (Mad Men) over 8. Sue Sylvester (Glee)

12. Ron Swanson (Parks and Recreation) over 13. Agt. Dana Scully (X-Files)

  • The man’s man of Parks and Recreation slips past one half of  X-Files‘ leading duo by two votes.

7. Dwight Scrute (The Office) over  2. Fraiser Crane (Fraiser)

  • Dwight Scrute may have failed to get his own spin-off like Fraiser Crane did but he marches on in our tournament.

11. Michael Bluth (Arrested Development) over 3. Agt. Fox Mulder  (The X-Files)

  • Bluth upsetting Mulder only adds to why Netflix is bringing back Arrested Development. The show was just a couple years before its time.
