There is a classic episode of “The Office” in Season 2 where Jim leads a game called “Desert Island” in which he encourages his co-workers to think of the 5 albums, movies, etc they would bring with them if they were stranded on an island alone for the rest of their lives.
I think we should play that game! Over the next few weeks I will be giving you my personal top 5 in categories like Music, Movies, Video Games, etc that I would bring with me on an island, and will encourage you to do the same.
The rules are simple. You can only choose 5, and they don’t even have to be what would be considered “The Best” in a given category. It’s subjective because these are the 5 pieces of entertainment that will have to play over and over for the rest of your life. So choose wisely!
Here in no particular order are the top 5 Movies I would bring with me if I were stranded on a Desert Island (and somehow knew in advance I would be. Of course, If I knew in advance I would be stranded, wouldn’t I just do something to prevent that?):
1. Anchorman – The Legend of Ron Burgundy
Why: I went through this phase in college where about %75 percent of my humor was quotes from this movie. As I have gotten older, it’s about %80 percent of my humor 🙂
Also, the very first girl I had a crush on in college was strictly because she liked the movie Anchorman (hint, hint ladies!)
Seriously, I have watched this movie about 90 times and it never stops being funny. Can’t wait for the 2nd one!
2. The Dark Knight
Why: This is another movie I have seen a bajillion times. The acting and the action, along with one of the best plotlines in a super hero movie, make this a must have if I am to be stranded the rest of my life.
Who didn’t walk out of this movie knowing they had just seen one of the best ever made?
3. Dumb & Dumber
Why: Easily the greatest comedy of all time. The partnership of Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey in this movie has never been matched. They play off each other so well and the hilarious scenes and quotes from this movie are endless!
4. The Avengers
Why: We waited years for this movie to release, and it exceeded expectations of audiences around the world.
5. Toy Story 3
Why: A childhood favorite mixed perfectly with humor and sadness to make an emotional roller coaster worth watching again and again 🙂
