Until i turned the radio on….

I was recently riding through town flipping through radio channels, trying to find something on that I liked, and it wasn’t a big deal until I realized all I was doing was hitting the “seek” button over and over again. Luckily for me I was able to plug in my iPhone after I went through the channel listing for the 5th time. And as I was listening to all the classic hits I had on my phone; I started to wonder what happened to hip hop? Are rappers even trying these days? Then a scary thought came across my mind..

I just said “THESE DAYS

I’m only 26 years old!! What am I doing saying “these days”? I’m not old, of course I’m still cool with the in-crowd. For instance, I’m excited for Big Boi’s album (Oh thats right, he started with Outkast in 1994)… Well Jay-Z is still topping charts(he came out in 1995)… Lil Wayne is still hot right?(Joined the Hot Boys in 1996 and first solo album in 1999).. Eminem! (Slim Shady EP released in 1997)…….

And trust me, im not saying that people like Drake, Wiz Khalifa, Tyga, etc, are horrible. They make great hits, but not great albums. The newest albums (without including the previously named artist) I have been able to listen to from beginning to end have been Killer Mike’s “R.A.P. Music” and Wale’s “Ambition”. Everything else I have ran across has been a catchy tune that stays with for a while until it slowly falls out of my interest.

There has to be a new, up and coming rapper out there that does not depend on using the word “like” to finish a rhyme. Somebody please help me find that rapper. Where are they at? Who has the next southernplayalisticadillacmuzik? When are we going to be able to compare a new artist album to “Blunted on Reality”? There has to be someone out there, so help me find them! Until then, I will sit back and enjoy a classic.
